  • EQUINOX ::::::::: ARCHÉOLOGIE DE LA LUMIÈRE

    By on

Archéologie de la lumière invites us into the heart of Minganie’s landscapes in Quebec. A place surrounded by countless presences. Everything there is perception. Every perception emerges from the interplay between the observer’s gaze and the living world: the trees, the moss carpeting the forest floor, the water winding through rocks, light filtered by the canopy, the sun’s reflection on the restless sea, the northern lights dancing across the night sky. To perceive is to attune ourselves to the movement of air and wind, to the distant clouds gathering and heralding a storm.

Almost 7 hours long, Ken Jacobs' magnum opus is a social critique of the USA, as poignant and relevant today as in the 1950s.

One of the American avant-garde's most prolific figures, Ken Jacobs (1933-2025) eagerly embraced digital filmmaking in the late 1990s.

From the monumental Tom, Tom, the Piper's Son to his Nervous Magic Lantern performances and more recent digital and 3D explorations, Jacobs's work is an uncompromised declaration of love for cinema.
